LGBT+ Equality – the International picture

Thursday 12th September 17:30

SWAN LGBT Networking is delighted to be working with our hosts Capco and partner Stonewall to bring you a fascinating interactive networking event.

In the 50 years since the Stonewall riots the lives of LGBT+ people in many parts of the world have changed for the better through growing acceptance and equality, but in some parts of the world there is still progress to be made. Even in those places where rights have been fought for and won, it is important to ensure and that there is acceptance of all parts of the LGBT+ community and that progress made is not rolled back.

Join Leanne MacMillan, Stonewall UK’s Director of Global Programmes and an exciting and diverse panel from organisations across the UK to discuss what we can do as individuals and as organisations with a global presence in order to achieve and maintain forward momentum on LGBT+ rights in challenging times.

Welcome to SWAN

Welcome to SWAN. We offer networking opportunities to all members of the LGBT community in Scotland. We're proud to be a registered charity, working to improve inclusivity for LGBT people in Scottish workplaces.

About Us

SWAN was founded in 2008 by Ian Arnot and Robert Cole, who were involved with BT's LGBTQ Networking group, Kaleidoscope. At the time, many companies and public sector employers had their own social networking organisations but there was nothing that connected them. SWAN was created in order to fill this gap and provide a network in Scotland to bring people from different sectors together, as an LGBT community.

SWAN frequently runs LGBT Networking events in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee.

SWAN has become synonymous with networking within the LGBT professional community.  As an organisation we have been hosted at many major businesses in the central belt of Scotland and attendance is consistently growing.SWAN aims to provide LGBT people with access to networking opportunities and with the help of our hosts we are able to do this absolutely free.In October 2014, SWAN Workplace Networking for LGBT (SWAN) was successful in achieving incorporation as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), registered in Scotland, SC045169.
